Water does the body good...

Let's just say that if you don't drink enough water, you will get the feeling of a semi heading South but positioned West to East. Holy Hell! Think about that one!

It's Friday...

And boy am I excited. I have Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday off. Yea!

It's time for some Fall cleaning. I love it when I am able to open the windows. I really enjoy cleaning....actual cleaning with product....not picking crap up. Have you ever noticed how many piles of paper collect in a week? It's ridiculous. We get these papers delivered to the house like a zillion times a week. I don't even know why but I do know that they keep delivering them even if you ask them not to (?) They are full of ads and such and they are annoying. I growl every time I see one. The mail is another issue. I swear on my big toe that when I get out of debt....I will pay for everything in cash and pay my bills online. Unless I get cards, presents, or money in the mail, I don't want it.

Hubby and I were discussing the whole food scam the other day. You know, how everything is full of preservatives and crap that makes you crave them. Like you could be sitting in the recliner, minding your own business, and crave a bag of Doritos. Not a couple of chips but the whole frickin' bag. Now did our ancestors have the same cravings....doubt it. Did they eat such gargantuan proportions? Again, doubt it. No wonder everyone is fat.

Next, we discussed anti-depressants and how big of a MORON Tom Cruise is. We believe that there are people that actually need them due to a chemical imbalance and then there are those that use them as a crutch. If you have a chemical imbalance, there is no amount of therapy that will help you. I believe whole-heartedly that I should have started taken mine a LONG time ago. As a teenager, I had serious mood swings. I now know that it was mania/depression. I said, "I think I also have a touch of ADD," and Hubby said "A touch? Yeah, right." Okay, so I've got it pretty bad. My attention span is quite short and my memory is just as bad. Even as I type this, my mind is going a million miles per minute thinking about what else I can type. Oh yeah, did I tell ya I lost another pound??????

Make it a great day!

I'm back in the game...

Yes, I weigh myself daily. I don't obsess about it, it's just something I do before I get in the shower (I'm already naked, I might as well weigh myself). I have been working out 3x/week for the past 1.5 months...all weights, no cardio, eating what I wanted. I have definitely gained muscle but fat loss....probably not. So, Monday I started to eat BFL-style (except for the cinnamon roll that was left over and a Kit Kat that Hubby got free at the gas station). I have already lost 2 lbs. I did Yoga yesterday instead of cardio (I actually sweated) and did not do my Upper Body Workout today (oh, well). But, again....I have lost 2 lbs. so far this week!! I will not tell you how much I gained since I did my last Challenge+, but I will tell you that I did NOT gain all of the inches back. Hopefully, I will melt like snow during the 4th of July. I mentioned on Tracker that I tried the Vanilla Nut Cereal (page 248) and I LOVE it. I made spaghetti squash with pasta sauce and grilled chicken last night and it was YUMMY!

Have you seen the "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode where Debra just cries because it is therapeutic? Well, I watched "The Notebook" today and balled my eyes out. I've seen it before and I know how it ends but DAMN if it didn't feel good to clear out the ole tear ducts. I was giving my eyes a break from my contacts and there I was crying all over my glasses:)

Because I thought this was SO funny...

9 Things I Hate About Everyone

1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?

2. People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the TV remote because they refuse to walk to the TV and change the channel manually.

3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?

4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they? Gonna Kick their asses!

5. When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor.

6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?".... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?

7. When something is 'new and improved!'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.

8. When people say "life is short". What the hell?? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!! What can you do that's longer?

9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here, dumbass?

The Miniature Turkeys

These are my babies. They are absolutely spoiled and I love them to pieces. Hunter wanted to give you a profile shot...he thinks he's gorgeous. Libby didn't want to have any part of this project AT ALL! Hope you are having a SUPER day.

Things that make you go hmmmm....

I said "Look what I did today. I painted my toes with the color my friend 'K' got me."

Hubby proceeded to say "You always say 'my friend so and so' instead of just my friend or 'K'."

I said "Well, I used to do that until someone kept asking what my friend's name was so I just started adding the name."

Hubby said "Have you ever heard someone say 'blah, blah, blah my friend X and then blah, blah, blah my enemy Z?"

He shoulda been a comedian.

BTW, I won't know my test score for 6 WEEKS!

Something new...

Today was lower body workout and I increased some weights so I thought I would start to post my workout:

Leg Extensions: 12x50, 10x60, 8x70, 6x80, 12x60
Leg Press: 12x115
Lying Leg Curls: 12x50, 10x60, 8x70, 6x80, 12x50
Seated Leg Curls: 12x60
Angled Calf Raises: 12x20, 10x25, 8x30, 6x35, 12x25
Seated Calf Raises: 12x60
Crunches: 12xlow bar, 10xmedium bar, 8xhigh bar, 6xLegs in air
Ab Crunches (machine): 12x70

I have noticed that on the Leg Extension Machine....the more weight I lift, the more the pads dig into the lowest, anterior side of my legs. I definitely get more fatigued with upper body than lower body. I bench pressed 6x70 the other day. My pecs were screaming.

On mornings that I workout after getting off of work...I get home around 0730, take a nap until ~0940, head out to the gym and stay up (if I am off) or shower and go back to bed (if I work that night). I am off tonight but after I took my shower, I laid down and took a good 4 hour nap. Woo hoo. Gotta love shift work. I have my test tomorrow and I need to do some final cramming. GOTTA GET THAT RAISE!!!!!!

I don't really have anything awe-inspiring or absolutely hilarious to pass on today. Ohhhhhh, my couple of zits turned into SEVERAL. Duuuuude....I am 33! Whazzup with that? It is kind of like I had red paint on my hands and flicked my fingers at my face. :P

P.S. My husband is a turkey butt....and I love him!!!!

Like a teenager again....

Behold! Thou shalt not mock thine friend's purulent facial additions for ye will be gifted ten-fold. Eh? Don't make fun of your friend's zits...even if they started it....or you will get them too....in mass quantities!!!! Sorry, K! Remember the game Connect Four? Well, I definitely have a visual. It's like my face is being consumed by what can only be described as a....a.....a...."too-mah!" Yowzers!

Let's see...its 0146 and I am at work. I am trying to study for my AATB (American Association of Tissue Banks) exam but my ADHD keeps interfering. I test on the 17th and I will get a 4% increase if....scratch that....when I pass. It is pretty dry stuff. FDA guidelines, cGMP's, etc.....blah, blah, blah.

I have added some more links that I highly recommend. There are a lot of talented writers out there in cyberspace...either that or I am easily amused.

Tomorrow (whoops...today) is Lower Body Workout. Hope you have a splendiferous day.

What I've learned this week....

I have learned that time off from work is good for the soul. I have learned that rubber gloves should be used when using cleaning products; otherwise, you will exfoliate your hands at a much faster rate. I have learned that self-cleaning ovens stink really bad while they are turning all of the junk to ashes. I have learned that Hubby using muscle rub while cleaning the oven stinks even worse. I have learned that taking off a day from my upper body workout for a holiday makes my upper body very sore after the next workout. I have learned that there aren't any cookies that chocolate chips don't taste good in. Did I really JUST learn these things this week? Probably not. I am just more acutely aware of them this week. Hope all is well in your part of the world.

My First Blog Post

Who am I? Well, I am glad you asked. My name is Melanie and I have been happily married to my husband David for over two years (June 7, 2003). We met online at Match.com. I highly recommend it for busy people that just are not into the whole "bar scene." We "met" online on December 7, 2002, and decided to meet in person that night. We knew quite early in the relationship that we were meant to be together (obviously). We have 2 English Springer Spaniels (Hunter and Libby) who we consider our children. They are spoiled rotten and, honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. We also have a rabbit (Savannah) who I lovingly call Stinkvannah! Man oh man, can her litter box get stinky quick.

I was introduced to BFL in January of this year and did my 12 Week Challenge. I did very well and then things kind of fell apart. David is currently looking for a job and things have been strained financially. I like to eat when I am stressed and I have been very tired with my work schedule. Needless to say, my BFL lifestyle got put on hold until I could commit to giving it my all.....for life. My friend from work, Tiffany, joined my gym and we have been working out weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It feels good and it is a step in the right direction. Food......gosh, I love chocolate.....is another story.

What is going on today? Labor Day is winding down. I am currently at work and bored out of my mind. We just started working 12-hour shifts (36 hours per week) and this is Day 2. We all felt that this would be a better schedule to allow us more time off to spend with our families. Some weeks, we were working 6 days in a row! Yuck! After tomorrow night, I am actually going to have 3 days off. Whatever will I do?

What was the most exciting thing that has happened recently (it doesn't take much for me)? David just completed our kitchen backsplash. It is awesome. It is amazing that I can come up with a design and he can put it on a wall. He only had to make minor modifications to make it work. The section over the stove is his creation. I will post pics soon.

Well, that is all for today folks. Thanks for stopping by.
